Cancun Travel Deals: Here Is Your Free Priceline Secret Technique Travel Guru Report #906
![]() As you may know, Priceline has two primary ways to find the best Cancun travel deals (or anywhere for that matter). First is the regular Search feature like the other major travel websites, where you enter in your requested details, and they find flights and hotels for you. These prices are all pretty competitive and similar among the major sites. Blah, blah, blah--pretty tame but is actually a good way to go for a lot of people. The other, more exciting, option is the Priceline Name Your Own Price option that allows you to bid on travel services and potentially save up to an additional 50% on Cancun travel deals. This is where you can save a bundle on your vacation costs--more than with the other travel websites. If you do it wrong you’ll bid too high (wasting money) or bid too low and waste many days getting to an acceptable price. Also, there can be a bit of apprehension about bidding for travel if you’ve never done that. But not to worry! So how to get your best Cancun travel deals using Priceline? The bottom line is that you will use a cool independent website where people report the actual details of their bidding for similar travel services. That will help you know how to bid properly (and will give you a greater level of comfort with the process). So here’s the “secret” 3-step method, after you’ve decided on the primary details related to your intended trip—location, approximate dates (some flexibility will be helpful but not essential), level of quality in the hotel, etc. 1. Go to the Priceline website at the link below. (There you’ll first check for advertised specials, just in case they happen to have any killer Cancun travel deals right away—probably won’t happen.) Check the Hotels page and look for the See Winning Hotel Bids page to get your first bit of comparison pricing information. Optionally you might want to do a simple search and just see what normal discount pricing is for your air/hotel/car preferences (and any good package deals). Here’s the link you need: Click on the Name Your Own Price Bid Now button and it will take you to pages where you can find out your options for lodging in the area around your destination. DO NOT BID yet; just write down the best pricing you saw elsewhere on the site and any other pertinent information that surfaced in your preliminary research. Priceline also has great Help for understanding the process—spend a little time on that if you’ve not used the Name Your Own Price option before. 2. Now, go to the biddingfortravel.com website and look for a forum thread on your destination (we saw a link called Forum Jump that takes you to the difference geographical areas. You will find what people spent on Cancun travel deals in the Mexico section of the forums. Spend a little time on this website writing down what others paid—this is great pricing research very specific to understanding the lowest successful bids! There is also a good FAQ section to help further in your understanding (and comfort level) with the Priceline system. Armed with this pricing information and what you learned in your first trip to Priceline, you are ready to bid. (As an option for those who really like to research, you could also quickly check on one or two major hotel websites and see what they offer in Cancun travel deals—same for airfare and cars.) 3. Return to Priceline and submit a bid at the lowest level where others have had success--or slightly lower if you want to test their low end on Cancun travel deals. (There are limits on when you can resubmit after a declined bid, but sometimes trying a slightly different area or date will let you get around any delays in submitting new bids.) That's It! You are bidding for the lowest possible price, armed with knowledge of what has worked for others. And knowledge is power when dealing with the travel industry. Now, back to Cancun! Of course, nobody cares about Cancun travel deals if it is unsafe to travel, and there have been headlines about the swine flu in numerous countries, including Mexico. We need to realize that the actual number of cases for such a large country has been exceedingly small and, at latest count, declining. So watch the news and see if it seems to be going away pretty quickly. With a bit of research, you may find that this is actually a great time to visit beautiful Mexico, and the Yucatan resorts in particular, where many hotels are ready to offer Cancun travel deals you cannot refuse! However, you must be careful. At the airport you may run into official-looking locals, perhaps in uniform shirts, who offer to help you find your way to transportation. They look like airport employees, but they may in fact work for tour companies and will try and sell you packages and activities. They can be pretty persuasive, so don't assume they have the best Cancun travel deals. One hot afternoon we took the city bus into downtown. This is a long, slow ride and the busses can get utterly jammed; you may find yourself standing with others right next to you. I almost had my pockets picked in this vulnerable position--standing on a moving bus and holding the ceiling strap. Fortunately an honest local got our attention and told the would-be thief to move along. Think twice about hiking around the city in the afternoon. A morning trip might be cooler. Keep your eyes open for air conditioned shops and restaurants. New Mexico Near Old Mexico! The Yucatan Peninsula city of Cancun is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world, and certainly in the Caribbean. It is a dense urban resort community where dozens of companies offer Cancun Travel Deals to international travelers. Although it claims as neighbors a number of ancient landmarks, the city itself is remarkably young. How young? In the late 1960s the state-run Banco de Mexico wanted to find ways to capture more foreign vacation action—to increase tourism in the Yucatan Peninsula. So they did a big study, created a Master Plan of a resort city of international aspirations and started development in early 1970. At the time they broke ground, there were only a handful of residents of Isla Cancun; the nearest town had only a hundred or so residents. The first nine hotels were financed by the government, until investors became comfortable with this unproven undertaking. So the oldest hotels in Cancun are just under 40 years of age. Presently the population of Cancun is reportedly over 600,000, and the peninsula Hotel Zone hosts over 100 hotels. Cancun travel deals and vacation activities of all kinds and price levels await vacationers. Many visitors to the youthful city of Cancun schedule in time to visit remnants of some of the oldest civilizations on earth. Your vacation can include a day trip to the famous Chichen Itza archeological site. There are smaller locations in the area with Mayan ruins and landmarks, but Chichen Itza is often considered one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. It was apparently founded in the late seventh century, and was at its prime 400 years later. These days history buffs are treated to many features that tell of its fascinationg (and sometimes not so peaceful) past. This can be a great break in a weeklong vacation. It might be best scheduled during the winter months, when the temperatures are a bit milder. Keep this in mind as you arrange your Cancun travel deals with local operators. Cancun remains one of the most desirable of the Caribbean resort communities. The combination of modern resort living, a beautiful ocean-oriented environment and a variety of modern and ancient destinations make Cancun travel deals very popular with vacationers around the world. Most major travel websites and travel agencies can help arrange a vacation to this world-class Mexican resort area.
